Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe
Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe is an artistic support program
for emerging creators in the circus arts field in Europe. It is aimed
at assisting artistic research and creation in this field.
CIRKO
Center for New Circus is the coordinator of the Nordic network in JTCE.
The other Nordic partners in the network are Cirkus Cirkör and Subtopia
from Sweden, Copenhagen International Theatre KIT from Denmark, the
Norwegian Sirkunst-network and the Finnish Circus Information Centre.
Jeunes
Talents Cirque Europe is a system for assisting the emergence of
authors and creators in the area of circus arts, which was conducted
for the first time in 2002 on the initiative of the French Ministry of
Culture and Communication. This proposal centres on opening the
initiative to European countries, to enable Jeunes Talents Cirque
Europe to utilise learning gained to move toward a project that has an
integral European dimension.
Arisen from the observation that
young artists and companies encounter real difficulties in their
creative process, this operation is intended to find and nurture the
discovery of these young creators and to encourage new ways of working
within the field of circus arts. Considered as one of the main support
operations for young authors and creators in this field, Jeunes Talents
Cirque Europe maintains its objective of supporting in creation and
assistance in public promotion
JTCE has established a European
partnership for many reasons. First, contemporary circus is developing
in other European countries. Secondly, this very diverse art is the
keystone of a cultural mixing. Finally, many European countries need to
generate a common goal to promote circus arts inside their own borders.
The
project aims at encouraging the emergence of new artists in Europe,
creation and mobility, circulation of circus arts and its traditions,
and intercultural dialogue. Consequently, several cultural operators,
involved in circus arts’ European development have worked together in
order to set up a European operation.
The selection committee
had a final meeting for this round of JTCE on the 8th of March 2010,
and 10 European projects have been selected to receive a production
grant, to have a residency and to present an extract of their project
at public presentations in Helsinki, Strasbourg and Paris during this
autumn.
